UX case study

There is no dispute that the big three industry leaders for event meet-up apps are Meetup, Facebook, and EventBrite, so my competitive analysis included these three apps. I compared the features and developed likes, dislikes, and action items. The affinity map included strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.

The PROBLEM for our social media app was that the business team noticed a discrepancy where the number of people who RSVP for an event is significantly higher compared to the actual number of attendees. On average, data shows that only 20% of people who RSVP actually end up attending events.

The SOLUTIONS uncovered were to add features to ensure that the number of attendees who pledge to
attend more closely aligns with the actual attendance. Features added were a points incentive, easy sign up for events, an interactive discussion section, more robust search features, user verification, quality attendee information collection, events centered around common interests, email confirmation, QR code tickets and online payments, and integration with other platforms (FaceBook and Instagram).

MY ROLE was the sole UX/UI designer.
